Health II is a semester long required course for 1/2 credit, taken by juniors and seniors. The Health II curriculum will cover fewer topics but in greater detail than in Health I. Examples of a few issues covered are current health issues, abuse cases and consumer health. Topics will be covered through books, videos, internet research, class discussion, and teacher handouts.
This is a level 3, 1-credit course designed for juniors or seniors who have passed Biology and are interested in learning about local plants and animals. The course is designed to be as hands-on as possible, therefore students must be willing and prepared to go outside frequently, in all but the most extreme weather.
In addition, students must be mature enough to handle the responsibility of doing outdoor projects and working independently or in groups. Absolutely no irresponsible or unsafe behavior will be tolerated.
The topics covered include various types of local flora and fauna. Expect to have a short homework assignment 4-5 nights per week. There will be frequent quizzes and larger unit tests. Two or three research projects will be interspersed throughout the semester.
